How Grove Hill Evangelical Church (“we”) use your information

Your privacy is important to us. We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of your information.

Grove Hill Evangelical Church – Overview

We meet each Sunday to worship God in church services. We also run activities and groups for children, young people and adults during the week which all are welcome to attend. We want to glorify God in all that we do and to share the good news of his Son, Jesus Christ with those around us. This is summed up in our mission statement: Glorifying God and transforming lives with the Gospel.

Why do we collect and use your information?

We collect and use your information (personal data) to provide appropriate pastoral care, to fulfil our purposes as a church and to comply with the law regarding data sharing In legal terms these are called “legitimate interests”. When it is required, we may also ask you for your consent to process your data. We do not share your information with others except as described in this notice.

We also hold data on our employees to comply with legal requirements and to manage the employment relationship; and on those who work for the Church (e.g. running activities) on a voluntary basis to manage staffing of activities in which they are involved.

In addition, we have installed CCTV outside the Church premises to assist in the prevention and detection of crime and anti-social behaviour.

The categories of information that we may collect, hold and share include:

• Personal information (such as name, telephone number, address and email address)
• Characteristics (such as gender, ethnicity, language, nationality, country of birth)
• Details of allergies or other relevant medical information where it is necessary for us to be aware of this information so that we can take appropriate care of those involved in our groups and activities.

Storing your data

We hold your data for varying lengths of time depending on the type of information in question but in doing so we always comply with Data Protection legislation.

If you are involved in a Church activity or group, we will contact you approximately annually to check that the information we are holding is accurate and that, where we are processing your data based on your consent, you agree to us continuing to hold it. We would encourage you to let us know if there is any change in the personal data that we hold on you, so that we can ensure our records are accurate and up to date. Please speak to the group leader or the Data Protection Compliance Manager (contact details below).

Who do we share your information with?

We will not share your information with third parties without your consent unless the law requires us to do so.

Requesting access to your personal data

Under Data Protection legislation, you have the right to request access to information about you that we hold. To make a request for your personal information contact the Data Protection Compliance Manager.

You also have the right to:
• object to processing of personal data that is likely to cause, or is causing, damage or distress
• prevent processing for the purpose of direct marketing
• object to decisions being taken by automated means
• in certain circumstances, have inaccurate personal data rectified, blocked, erased or destroyed; and
• claim compensation for damages caused by a breach of the Data Protection regulations.
